Cadaveric Oath Ceremony Conducted for MBBS 2025 Batch at SGRRIM&HS

On 10th December, the Cadaveric Oath Ceremony was conducted in a joyful and respectful atmosphere at the Department of Anatomy, SGRRIM&HS, Dehradun. Newly admitted MBBS students of the 2025 batch were sensitized about the importance of body donation as they took the Cadaveric Oath.

The programme commenced with the joint inauguration by Chief Guest Dr. Sanjay Aggarwal, Madam Jasvir Kaur, Mr. Inderjeet Singh, and Mr. Rajkishor Jain, along with Dr. Harmeet Kaur, Professor & Head, Department of Anatomy, who initiated the ceremony with the traditional lamp lighting.

This was followed by Saraswati Vandana and the administration of the Cadaveric Oath to the MBBS students.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, General Secretary, Akhil Bhartiya Agarwal Society, addressed the gathering and expressed his happiness that people are coming forward to donate their bodies regularly to medical colleges for the advancement of education.

Mr. Inderjeet Singh, General Secretary, Gursikh Education Trust, shared that he and his 20-year-old daughter have already filled out the body donation form, expressing their willingness to serve medical education.

Madam Jasvir Kaur, a strong pillar of the Gursikh Education Society and Project Coordinator in the trust, graced the occasion with her presence.

Mr. Rajkishor Jain, President, Jain Milan, also blessed the students and appreciated their commitment.

Dr. Harmeet Kaur, Professor & Head, Department of Anatomy, emphasized that “The cadaver is the very first teacher” of every medical student. She highlighted that the Cadaveric Oath is a solemn pledge taken before dissecting human bodies—expressing gratitude and respect for the donor, acknowledging the cadaver as the first teacher, and committing to use the knowledge ethically for the service of humanity. This oath instills empathy, professionalism, and an understanding of mortality, bridging the gap between science and humanism.

She also shared with pride that just four days ago, Dr. Manoj K. Gupta, faculty member of SGRR, donated his father’s holy body to the college. She encouraged everyone to continue spreading awareness about body donation in society.

The Chief Guest facilitated the staff for their dedication and exemplary care of the cadaver.

Students were appreciated by Professor Dr. Nidhi Jain, Academic In-charge.
